PLEASE NOTE

Cosmetic tattoos take approximately 6 weeks to fully heal. All procedures require two sessions: an initial session to establish shape, and a perfecting session 6-8 weeks later. During your follow-up, we can asses your pigment retention and make any adjustments needed. This follow-up also increases the longevity of your semi-permanent tattoo. The touch-up takes approximately 1.5 hours and is included in the price of your initial procedure; it must be scheduled for and completed within 6-8 weeks post procedure unless alternative arrangements are made and agreed upon at the time of your initial appointment. If a touch-up appointment is not booked in this time frame or if you are a no-show, you forfeit your free touch-up and must pay for any touch-ups associated with your initial procedure. It is your responsibility to book your follow-up in advance.

POST PROCEDURE

After the topical anesthetic wears off, you may feel some tenderness on and around the tattooed area. You may also experience slight swelling and redness the day of your procedure; this is normal and typically fades within 24-48 hours. You may take Tylenol if you feel any pain, but avoid Aspirin or Ibuprofen as it can cause blood thinning.

If you experience heavy itching, swelling, blistering, or any other complications within the first 24 hours post-procedure, gently wash your tattoo with a mild cleanser and contact your healthcare provider. If symptoms continue, or you experience abnormal swelling/redness or shortness of breath/trouble breathing, go to the closest Hospital ER immediately as you may be having an allergic reaction to the pigment and/or the Aquaphor applied at the conclusion of your appointment.

The tattooed area will appear darker and bolder immediately after the procedure, but will soften and fade as your skin heals in the coming days and weeks. The color of your brows may also appear warmer (more red) in the initial days of healing. This is 100% normal.

Within a few days you might notice some flaking on the tattooed area, DO NOT pick at these; doing so can result in loss of pigment in those areas. Tattoos may appear spotty or patchy until the entire area has finished exfoliating. You may notice that some areas appear very light or even to have lost pigment entirely after they have peeled; the epidermis will be thicker at this time, causing muting, hiding or diffusing of pigment underneath. The epidermis will normalize over the next 6 weeks and softened pigment will resurface and "bloom" back into the surface of the skin.

AFTERCARE

  • The morning after your procedure, gently wash your tattoo with lukewarm water and a mild, unscented cleanser (I recommend Cetaphil). Pat excess moisture off with a clean paper towel and let air dry. Once dry, apply a gentle, fragrance free moisturizer to your brows (again, I recommend Cetaphil). This will help with any flaking or itching. DO NOT glob product on; use only enough to very lightly coat the brow area. You may use a cotton swab or clean fingers for application.

    • Continue this 2x/day for the following 7 days.

  • For 7 days following your procedure, keep your tattoo dry with the exception of the twice daily gentle cleansing and moisturizing.

    • THIS INCLUDES SWEATING; no aggressive workouts or hot yoga, please.

    • DO NOT let your brows come into contact with other cleansers or skin care you are using on the rest of your face; remove makeup from surrounding area with a washcloth or makeup wipe.

    • DO NOT allow shampoo, conditioner, and other hair products to come into contact with your brows.

    • It is also important that you avoid saunas, facial steaming, swimming and/or soaking the tattooed area in pools, hot tubs, or the ocean while your tattoo heals.

  • DO NOT apply makeup to the tattooed area for 14 days following the procedure.

  • DO NOT pick or scratch at your tattoo as it heals. Let your skin naturally exfoliate and flake off.

  • DO NOT allow procedure area to come into contact with chemical exfoliants (such as glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid, or Retinol) for 4 weeks. In general, I recommend you avoid these exfoliants on your brows altogether as they can cause the tattoo to fade more quickly.

  • If you plan on receiving chemical peels, laser treatments or an MRI in the weeks following your tattoo, please inform your technician or doctor that you have been tattooed.

  • Once your tattoo is fully healed, you can begin applying sunscreen to the area to help retain pigment color.

IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT YOU FOLLOW ALL AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS.
